Ahh, the red solo cup – a symbol of youthful abandon.  A reminder of the days of yesteryear when hangovers didn’t exist, and when tossing ping pong balls into them was a satisfying diversion.  But there comes a time when her presence should be relegated to nothing more than a fond memory – when we must regrettably revoke her invitation to our dining rooms and social gatherings.

While plastic cups are sometimes the only option for large enough crowds, we’ve identified a few alternatives for more everyday use. You don’t necessarily need to bring out the fancy stemware for an informal gathering with friends – our glassware picks are durable and versatile enough to suit nearly any beverage or occasion.  Wine, cocktail, or water, the options below will certainly suffice – allowing you to bid farewell, once and for all, to our former, but always cherished friend.

1. Recycled Wine Punt Glassware (Set of 4) – $28 from West Elm

2. Stack Double Old-Fashioned Glass. 12 oz. – $7.95 from Crate & Barrel

3. 16 oz. Embossed Square Mason Jar (Case of of 12) – $12.99 from Amazon

4. Recycled Whiskey Glass – $10 from Brookfarm General Store
