Stone Barns Center is the perfect city getaway, just 45 minutes outside of NYC. The center itself is a non-profit and its mission is to increase public awareness of healthy, seasonal and sustainable food, train farmers in resilient, restorative farming techniques and educate children about the sources of their food, and prepare them to steward the land that provides it.
Blue Hill at Stone Barns is a world-renowned, award-winning restaurant located on-site in one of the historic stone buildings at Stone Barns Center—and it plays a vital role in helping advance their mission.
I’ve been four times already now, and plan to visit in spring and summer to see the farm and taste Blue Hill’s offerings in every season.
We started off with the iPhone tour and then joined up with a group towards the end. The greenhouse is probably my favorite, and it was a treat getting to see all of the elements that make up the center.
The weather forecast didn’t say anything about rain and clouds, but I came prepared!
