Simon James has created a new residential and retail focused space at the Upper Queen Street in Auckland’s Herne Bay.
The concept store is a reflection of the Simon James aesthetic where his own sofa and furniture collections are offset by lighting from local designer Nat Cheshire and interior accents by Tom Dixon. The design of the new space is a collaboration between interior designer Rufus Knight and Simon James himself. Rufus Knight who currently resides in Antwerp is known for his designs for architects Fearon & Hay as well as the Lonely Hearts retail store. The result of James and Knight’s collaboration is an aesthetically pleasing backdrop of raw honed wall panels, polished concrete and soft shear drapes to delineate the various living spaces from one another.
Simon James Design has a long-term commitment to continue finding new ways to lessen their environmental impact and provide a service to those interested in some of the most innovative design solutions this country and the world has to offer.
