Russell Westbrook is working super hard on his brand this off season.
The NBA star/ fashion enthusiast is currently promoting his new unisex fragrance, Byredo Westbrook Eau de Parfum. W Magazine recently caught up with Westbrook to talk more about his inspiration behind the fragrance, the collaboration process and much more.

“Byredo’s Westbrook Eau De Parfum celebrates the personality of NBA star player Russell Westbrook with a fresh yet warm fragrance. Ben Gorham, the creative director and founder of Byredo, explains that “on the court, Russell is one of the greatest competitors I have seen. Off the court, I find him to be humble and down-to-earth. It was this contrasting energy that I tried to capture in the fragrance.”
What was the inspiration behind the collaboration?
Cologne is something I’m interested in and I thought Ben [Goreham] was the perfect guy. We have a lot of similarities, he used to play basketball and I play basketball, he’s laid-back like myself, so that made it easy. I got introduced to Ben in Paris, and after my collaboration with Barneys I wanted to be able to expand and do different things, whether it was cologne, underwear or whatever.
What was the collaboration process like?
We were going back and forth while I was playing basketball. It was fun looking at the different scents, deciding what I liked. It’s interesting that one little ingredient can change the whole scent.
