With Memorial Day only a few weeks away, summer is practically here! During the summer months when temperatures rise, women tend to have an easier time staying cool than men. It’s perfectly acceptable for our female counterparts to wear sleeveless dresses, skirts and even sandals to work and dressier social events. When the occasion calls for a suit, however, us gents can sometimes be left sweating it out.
While many summer wardrobe decisions can be pretty self-evident, suiting isn’t always so obvious. This summer – ditch your black and charcoal suits for lighter shades.
When it comes to summer suit colors, it’s hard to beat light gray. It looks good when paired with almost any color and naturally keeps you much cooler than black or navy. The suit I’m wearing is by Theory. Theory suits tend to fit me well. Their cuts tend to be slightly more narrow and good for people on the lankier side. Other brands that tend to work well for me are Topman, Prada, and Hugo Boss.
Light blue and gray always make for an excellent combo. The shirt I’m wearing is from Band of Outsiders and is made of lightweight cotton.
One of my favorite looks to do for spring/summer is cropped pants with a dapper pair of shoes -always sockless! With a light gray suit I tend to go with brown shoes. The derbies I’m wearing are by Christian Louboutin and really complete my on-duty look.
Just because you find yourself in stuck in suit at some point over the next few months, doesn't mean you need to get all hot and bothered. Lighten up – it's summer after all!
