I've hinted at this post on Instagram here and here, so here it is... voilà! Been trying to up my leather game (no, not the Fifty-Shades-of-Worst-Movie-Ever kind of leather; but jackets): jackets! Seems difficult to fathom wearing anything of the like here in NYC with this coming-of-summer slash where the eff did spring go? weather; but we shot this look out in LA along with this ensemble (yes, it took that long for me to post this #donthurtme) and it is technically cooler in LA than it is here, so it justifies my right to post it now, correct? That and this look embodies the vibe of the area we shot it in, Venice Beach. Distressed muscle long tee. Vintage embroidered skinny jeans. Destroyed chucks. Aviator sunnies. Beach-y hair. And of course, leather. It was my first time in a long time visiting this renown coastal nook of my home city and quite honestly, nothing's changed. That's what I love about it. You can Google what it looks like, but in the meantime, here's a color/graffiti-blocked version of the town that's a little more my kind of artsy speed.
I picked up this Dsquared leather jacket on sale over the winter, knowing that a burgundy leather jacket was not on my list of priorities considering its difficulty to pair with the other clothes I already had in my closet. But conversely, it allows me to be more creative with my outfits. While simplified in this look, I’ve worn it with a sleeveless denim jacket underneath and camel joggers (specifically these). Or dressed up in all black. Prints would look fantastic. I’m not one to be so matchy-matchy, but the jacket just happened to work perfectly with this pair of embroidered denim I picked up from a capsule collection of LA favorite brand, NSF, and Bliss and Mischief (here).
