Back in May, we reviewed the Grovemade iPhone dock and absolutely loved it. This month we have the ultimate accessory to go along with that dock. It is an iPhone case made of (you guessed it) 100% wood.
Now, I will admit that I am guilty of having purchased many plastic and silicone cases over the years to enhance my smartphones, and they are always underwhelming at best. I am also a big fan of retro-tech gadgets, especially when they have a flair of class, but I rarely feel that the inflated cost justifies their true value.
I am not going to say that the Grovemade iPhone case is a retro-tech upgrade necessarily, but it does provide the same kind of warm fuzzy feeling in your fingers each time you hold your phone. There is an enormous difference between the ‘fake wood’ cases you can buy on eBay, and these handmade cases.
You can actually see the amount of hours that went into each case. Take notice of the intricate splicing, smooth sanded edges, and flawless precision with how the battery cover meets the body of the iPhone. The body of each case is soft and inviting, and it offers a sexy touch to an already fabulous piece of technology.
The inside of the case features a solid surface mold to cradle your iPhone. It is also lined with a soft padding to protect your device, while also holding it in place securely. Grovemade can handcraft a case that will fit either your iPhone 4/4S or a iPhone 5/5S.
You can also choose between bamboo, maple, or walnut, and either a black or white outside bezel. I can tell that these high resolution pictures barely do the craftsmanship on these justice. There are very few things that can actually give an iPhone wood, and in this case, at under $100–this is a practical luxury I would not hesitate to recommend.
