Have you ever walked out of the house with your robe on? We won’t believe you even if you deny it. We’ve answered the door, picked up our mail, or even gone to the corner store in our bath robes. We’re convinced that we won’t bump into anyone we know that early in the morning- so it’s no big deal, right?
Next season, it will become a big deal. Designers may have had us in mind with their creation of chic robes. We first noticed chic robes last fall at GANT Rugger when they released a navy, paisley printed robe. This season they followed up with two robe styles, and next season six designers are jumping on board.
The robes don’t look out of place either. They have a shawl collar like tuxedo jackets. At first glance they look like belted cardigans, and they could be mistaken for a belted coat. At the Alexander McQueen and Yohji Yamamoto shows, robes were styled under blazers and outerwear that reference the draping trend of next season. Whether you want to layer the piece or not, a chic robe is a very stylish addition to your wardrobe. It gives you a reason to get caught by your friends on your morning run to your Bodega.
