DESPISE the frigid weather. Seriously speaking, there is nothing positive that comes from the cold, except the one fact that it gives me, you, us, the opportunity to layer and wear chic coats, but other than that- nada, nothing, zilch
, you get the picture. Since I'm not planning on moving to Miami or somewhere tropical anytime soon, I'll have to make the best of living in NYC. So, naturally, I take the frigid weather as an opportunity to advance my layer-game. I get asked, probably on every-other-day basis, "What do you spend your money on (clothing-related, duh)?" I always have the same response. I spend my hardworking cash on the two things that will last eternally, essentially: Shoes & Outerwear. Other things like turtlenecks and denim are needed, but aren't an investment as the market is overflowed with these essentials and are easily accessible for an affordable price. Some of my favorite outwear pieces that I own are from J.Lindeberg
(photographed above), The Kooples
(both soon to hit the blog). I wore my double-breasted camel coat, which I picked up from the tailor last week with great excitement, over a burgundy merino-wool turtleneck, and paired with gray windowpane trousers. And, since an outfit isn't complete without its rightful accessories, I threw on my new Stetson
hat (who knew I was a hat person?!), brown quilted leather gloves from Belstaff
, and my new favorite shoes by Hydrogen-1
. If you're going to take anything away from this post, take this, sometimes it's the last 10% you put on that completes an outfit-- dare to accessorize, be bold and get creative. P.S. now you can score these navy double-monk straps on sale for $215 (originally $395), right here
. Happy Third to last day of the year!
