For those in the know, or rather, for those with a subscription, you may have noticed a recent addition to the Dollar Shave Club shaving subscription box. After the success of their flagship dollar shaving utensils, Dollar Shave Club are calling an all-out bathroom invasion, with a vision to help men prepare a monthly box that contains all the necessary facets of men’s grooming with an onus on being cost-effective and kind to their community. From their One Wipe Charlies to the Dr. Carver Shave Butter, Male Standard was excited to see what DSC had in-store next. Happily, we discovered Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm was the answer. An addition to the Dr. Carver Shave Butter, the post shave balm is used after shaving to hydrate and protect skin from the perils of dragging a razor across your face. Rocking the DSC boat at $9, but still well under the average RRP of $30, we wanted to know if the Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm lived up to expectations.

Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm

Described as the ‘ultimate amnesty for the disruptive act of shaving,’ Dollar Shave Club are hitting all the right marks with their new Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm. With no added fragrance, a non-sticky non-greasy formula, anti-aging protection, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee, this small but powerful bottle contains everything the disconcerting gent needs to shave in comfort. For the price, we surely weren’t expecting more than a repackaged or reimagined moisturizer, but DSC called our bluff. This soothing and hydrating formula complements the Dr. Carver Shave Butter, which we simply love, to leave skin as soft as well, butter. It’s ridiculously effective at calming and preventing redness and irritation, and left skin the softest we’ve ever felt. If you want to capture those first super smooth shave days, then Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm is the most likely to take you back to that happy time.

Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm

As there’s no added fragrance or parabens, only simple, quality ingredients such as Aloe Leaf Juice extract, Prickly Pear Cactus, and Oat Extract, the Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm gels with your choice of aftershave, and won’t disrupt sensitive skin with any added extras or nonsense. You can tell that the shaving team has really put their noggins together to figure out what the skin needs, and left everything else out. We put this product in the hands of someone who is defiant of shaving products in general, suffering from notoriously sensitive skin that breaks out at the first whiff of product, and was impressed to report back that it has since become part of their daily regimen. No breakouts. No acne. No redness. Just smooth, soft, skin and a close shave that’s comfortable and a tad bit refreshing. We pan this down to the lack of alcohol and menthol irritants commonly found in post-shave balms.

The Male Standard Verdict

If you’re in the business of saving a few dollars, without scrimping on quality skin care ingredients, we highly recommend Dr. Carver Magnanimous Post Shave Balm. We’re thrilled that the Dollar Shave Club continues to educate men on shaving protocol, introducing millions no doubt to the concept of a post-shave balm with unprecedented character. We wouldn’t be offended if our local barber pulled this product out, as we know that the core ingredients and formula are of professional quality. And, at only $9 a bottle, we’re still mystified as to how Dollar Shave Club can do what they do; it’s simply remarkable. When used in conjunction with Dr. Carver Shave Butter, you can expect nothing less than a 5 star shave for a few cents a day. We recommend for daily shavers, that you add this to your cart on an every other month basis, and see how long it lasts you. With a half-dime sized amount, this product goes the distance.
