“American silhouettes, pieces that you know, reinterpreted with a new hand for a guy who’s comfortable with his individual style,” said Stuart Vevers about his very first Coach menswear collection.
In a very small and intimate setting at a Central Saint Martins location Vevers presented his strong collection for the Coach label. Before entering the small show venue in which a cinematic vision of the American landscape was the beautiful background, guests were invited to a small presentation that showcased the gorgeous bags, leather goods and shoes Coach is known for, but also functioned as a preview of what to expect for the new menswear line by previewing some of the coats.
Coach bringing the new line to London shows how London Collections: Men has progressed during the last few seasons and starts gaining a strong international character. Coach’s debut was not the only American success on the first day, as Public School won the International Woolmark Prize earlier today.
The label’s huge success in leather goods the past few years was absolutely no guarantee for success in menswear ready-to-wear. However, with his very directional approach – in which the outerwear flourished the most – Vevers wrote the pages of a beautiful new chapter in his successful career.
