Inside Club Monaco's Selvedge Denim Workshop

Club Monaco is teaming up with Jean Shop to create a line of hand-finished selvedge denim. Style No Chaser takes us inside the workshop to see just how each pair of jeans is made.

The menswear ascendance of Club Monaco continues on a steady course. Today, we're telling you about the next installment in their Maker & Muse series. CM is teaming up with Eric Goldstein, the founder of the revered Jean Shop with outposts in both NYC and Los Angeles. The Jean Shop specializes in the traditional making of denim: using raw selvedge denim and finishing the garment by hand inside their shop on Crosby Street,

To launch the collaboration of Club Monaco & Jean Shop, Mr. Goldstein provided full access to his denim workshop to show how much skill, passion and craftsmanship go into each pair of jeans. He offered the following, "Hand distressing is literally done by hand on every pair of jeans. There are certain tools that are used to distress the hems and to make whiskers and give the jean an overall vintage aesthetic. This is the old school way of crafting a jean by hand." These guys certainly take their jeans very seriously.
