A Variation on Tweed

The ability to create an exquisitely elegant knitted jacket, through the use of a trademark unstructured construction and exclusive fabrics, is one of the aspects that makes me an unconditional fan of 1ST PAT-RN. Delving deep into the vintage archives of Italian military and navy units stationed throughout the globe, as well as everyday garments worn by local peasants and workers, they are able to reinterpret iconic pieces in a tailored fashion. The result are collections that merge boundaries between relaxed tailoring and sophisticated workwear, an interesting mix that perfectly complements a variety of styles. This time around, the duo comprised by Cristiano and Silvia, has once again been able to combine a uniquely tailored pattern with thorough fabric and style research & development, to create the “Tweed di Maglia” or knitted Tweed.

This interpretation on the iconic Wintery fabric, seen here in a mixed grey wool/silk blend is simply superb: portraying an almost speckled effect, the fabric is warm, smooth and comfortable to wear, a perfect match for the Fadalto Jacket. This peak lapel 3-button-2 style features some outstanding details, such as slit button flap pockets, cinched waistline and buttoned single vent at the back, whilst portraying the raw jersey inner seams and coming in a exclusive edition limited of only 150 units. Here, I paired with one of the season’s essentials, a navy cashmere turtleneck and white denim, a color that will accompany throughout Winter as long as it doesn’t rain. Scarves are a personal obsession and they hardly get any better than the handmade versions from Monsieur Fox.
