This summer I got to visit Vancouver for the first time for the lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon. Since the destination is known for its outdoor and fitness nature, I based what I was going to bring with me on what a savvy athletic traveler should be using on flight.

Headphones – V-Moda

While earbuds are perfect for the outdoors and running, a stylish and functional pair of headphones for the international flight are essential. The V-Moda XS are an on-the-ear style pair of headphones that are foldable for easy packing. Noise-isloating and providing award winning sound, the style is also customizable to your liking.

Sunglasses – SPY+

Stylish and fun, the rounded Spy+Bleecker sunglasses are designed with a mix of metal and acetate, and have anti-relfective coating on the inner lens to help you fight off any glare.

Water Bottle – MiiR

While you can’t bring an full water bottle when you travel, you can bring an empty one to fill up. The MiiR Insulated bottle is a BPA free bottle that can filled with 500ml of cold or hot liquids. With its insulated properties it can keep cold things chilled for up to 24 hours and hot things warm for 12 hours. Also each MiiR bottle purchased gives a person clean water for a year.

Shoes – Tretorn

For an alternative to fitness sneakers, Tretorn’s Rödlera canvas sneakers are great for a casual style and for a sneaker option to wear when walking all day – which you can easily do in Vancouver. Features the brand’s 100% postindustrial mesh sockliner with an ecoOrthoLite insole to help keep your foot dry and odor-free.

Shorts – lululemon

I was sent a pair of the lululemon men’s Core Short before making my way to Vancouver and tested them to see how they’d fair to be worn while traveling. Perfect for when flying to warm destination or in the summer, the shorts proved to live up its quality, comfort, breathability and multi-use that it promises (since I also did yoga and worked out in them afterwards).

Wallet / Passport Case – Bellroy

Keeping functionally in mind, Bellroy has launched a new line of heavy duty all-weather leather and water-resistant zipper wallets. Among them is the Bellroy Elements Travel Wallet, which is crafted to make carrying your passport, credit cards, business cards, flight tickets and all other paperwork and cards slim and easy (plus has bonus small pen which comes in handy for filling out those custom/boarder control forms).

Smartphone – HTC One

A quality and functional smartphone is essential to everyday, but when it comes to travel the most important aspect of the phone (at least for me) is the camera. I like the HTC One (M8)'s sleek design, but even more so the various photo options that phone has available. There’s the main camera with countless options (personal favorites are the HDR more, anti-shake and the manual features that you just don’t get on the iPhone), the front facing camera that can be used for selfies or dual capture photos, a video mode that can shoot up to 1080p footage, a Pan 360 camera mode, and a Zoe camera which allows you to take photos when recording. The battery life of the phone is notable as well, lasting about 15th hours. To give you a taste for the basic camera features, the auto mode, checking out a couple photos below I snapped when my plane started to land in Vancouver and the view from my room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim.
