When you go out with your friends you can show off your style with your clothes, hairstyle, etc. But what about your house, does it have your ‘touch’ too?
If you visit the house of any men with confidence and authenticity, he will make sure that his place is a showcase of everything that he likes and is known for.
A modern gentleman knows about home decor just as he knows about suits. He knows what looks good hanging on the wall, and what will make him look bad.
The truth be told, there is a very big gap between a man who hand picks what he likes and one that lets somebody else do it for him. You can’t show that you are a man with discerning taste and listens to classical bossa nova if your living room has a full picture of Tony Hawk doing a 360 skating move.
We have learned that in this century you don’t need a lot of money to look stylish and the same is true for a nice house decoration.
One thing I always loved when I visited peoples houses was to see their living room. You get to see the art, decor, bar with favorite drinks, etc. But my favorite thing has always been the coffee table books.
It may sound silly but even if you have a small apartment with a sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table, if you add a nice hard cover book to it, it adds that final touch to the ambient.
But You need to choose it right. If you have people coming to visit you and you leave them for a second at your fancy living room, they will have a chance to know a little bit of what you like; or at least of what you are interested in.
I personally have my favorites. See my collection of best coffee table books for men:
